Worship

The worship at Hillsdale Orthodox Presbyterian Church is simple and is structured around the preaching of the Word. Everything either leads up to or from hearing God’s word read and preached. We use a written call to worship as well as written prayers so that the congregation is able to participate in the worship of God. The service is led by our Pastor and the preaching is expository and redemptive-historical. The Lord’s Supper is served weekly as we are reminded of what Christ has done for his people, as we partake to the nourishment of our souls and as we are reminded of how we are called to live in communion with Christ and with one another.
In the morning services, Rev. Henes is taking a break over the summer from the Gospel of Luke. It has been a great time to slow down and look at stories that many have heard for years and to consider them in light of the Old Testament promises as well as considering what it means that Jesus brings the Kingdom. We are now looking at the epistle of Hebrews, considering the glorious salvation we have and what it means to be ‘in Christ.’
Our evening services are typically held as usual at 6 pm in the Dow Center except once a month when we meet for a fellowship Lunch and devotional. Much as we did last summer, we are spending the evening services going through the Psalms.
